Foods that should not be reheated in the microwave
The microwave is a great invention that heats up our food faster and saves us time. Although almost everyone uses it, not all dishes are suitable for use in the microwave. Some dishes can be damaged, while others can be damaged by substances that can be really harmful to our health.
Here is a list of foods for which the microwave is a real enemy:
1. Some vegetables, fruits and mushrooms
Do not use broccoli in the microwave, as it will lose its beneficial properties. The best way to cook broccoli is to steam it
– some greens, such as beet leaves, have some properties that can cause a microwave fire
– do not cook spinach and beets in the microwave. Electromagnetic radiation creates harmful and carcinogenic nitrosamines
– chili peppers contain capsaicin, this capsaicin will begin to evaporate in the microwave and your room will fill with pungent smoke as soon as you open the microwave door
– grapes can be turned into plasma
2. Parents of the Divine Fathers
Heating fish in the microwave will leave you with an unpleasant dish
– Processed meat contains preservatives that turn into dangerous chemical compounds when exposed to electromagnetic radiation.
– If you heat chicken in the microwave, you will end up with a damp and unpleasant layer of chicken
3. Pizza, Chinese food and rice
Cooking pizza in the microwave is not harmful, but you will not feel happy eating it. The edges will become sticky and wet and the cheese will become chewy
Don’t reheat Chinese food in the microwave because you’ll end up with something wet and sticky
Don’t reheat your food in the same containers it was delivered in. Cardboard boxes contain hazardous materials such as wax, plastic, metal, glue or ink and can start a fire
– if the rice has been kept at room temperature for too long or has been stored in the refrigerator for more than a day, simply throw it away. Rice contains Bacillus cereus bacteria, which can persist in food and can cause serious poisoning.
4. Liquids, oils and soups
It’s okay to reheat the watery soup. On the other hand, thick, pureed soups can be a bit tough. The soup will start to explode with fireworks from the soup droplets and it will splash all over the microwave. To avoid this, try stirring the soup once every minute or putting a wooden spoon in the bowl
– don’t microwave the coffee as it will ruin its taste
– baby formula and instant formula don’t heat evenly when heated in the microwave. It can cause hot spots and can burn your baby
– olive, grape, sesame, and canola oils are actually fats and won’t heat up properly in the microwave
